Labyrinth

We came up from the south
………………………………………………….a tad off- course already
but nothing we need fuss about, we said, we’re close enough.
And even as we sensed a further……. drift…….. away
and not towards we weren’t too much alarmed.
It took an actual obstacle(
But was it really there? Or something we made up?
) to make us double back
………………………………………and
look for ways around it.
The going got much smoother then and one more easy zig-
…………………..zag promised steady progress with our goal in constant view –
………………………………………………..though some way to our right, the distance not diminishing.
We reckoned we had found a way back by a back way
to the centre when our near-tangential track
…………………………………………………………………..turned
……………………………….inward
twice.
We’d barely ever been so close; and never for so long.
But even that was not the end of it; we stumbled out
…………………………………………………………………………………& out again
…………………………………………………………………………………………..to trudge
………………………………………………………………………………………………..a weary half-
…………………………………………………………………………………………circumference,
…………………………………………………………………………………not seeing
lowest points as opportunities for rising to occasions.
