Enigmas
I stand alone outside the vanishing
twilight as the rusting sun descends
slowly into the horizon, tinting the earth
with an eerie pinkish-grey hue, and
wonder about those questions, which
have eluded my questioning mind.
The softly blurring darkness, the sudden
emergence of bright specs, like tiny
glowing enigmas in the ebony cloak,
The emergence of uncanny sounds of
wailing coyotes In the far distance meet
my eyes and ears with oblique
meanings that float atop a symphony of
obscure nocturnal chords.
I listen to the sudden outburst of silence,
and try to interpret the significance
Of those things unspoken. Ambiguous
thoughts echo through the chilly night’s
atmosphere into my mind, causing more
questions in my mind to appear clouding
reality.
